Road to 900: why all four 720s are four different tricks

When I say my goal is all four 720s, I do not mean doing the same trick four times. I mean four different takeoffs:

1. Frontside 720
2. Backside 720
3. Cab 720, which starts switch and spins frontside
4. Switch backside 720

They are all two full rotations. They all land in the same stance they started in. If you do not snowboard, they can look almost identical.

They do not feel almost identical.

Frontside and backside make me find the jump and the landing in different ways. Starting switch changes the whole setup before I even leave the lip. Switch backside is exactly what it sounds like: switch, then spinning the blind way. Very polite trick.

That is why the four-720 goal matters. One direction can feel natural while another one feels like learning the number seven from the beginning.

At the start of this training block, my honest snow score was one 720. Airbags are where I can build the movements for the rest without pretending they are already snow tricks. Austria is the test.

And when we say a trick is "locked," I do not want that to mean one lucky make that happened while the camera was on. It should mean I can set it up, do it again, and trust it enough to take it to snow. We will use the training log before we put that word in a result post.

The 900 is connected to this too, but it is a different landing. A 720 is two full rotations, so I land in the stance I started in. A 900 is two and a half, so I land switch. More spin is not the only problem. The ending changes.

So Road to 900 is really four roads to 720 first, plus a fifth road that keeps going.

The deadline for this season is November 18, our last snow day in Austria. The goal is all four 720s and at least one 900 on snow by then. I will show the real scorecard when the snow gets the final vote.
